Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s Trailer Becomes the First Movie Trailer Ever to Hit 1 Billion Views Worldwide

The world has spoken — and it wants Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The film’s trailer, released on March 17, became the first movie trailer in history to cross one billion views, reaching this milestone within just four days. Tom Holland’s fourth MCU appearance as Peter Parker has already rewritten the record books, and the film hasn’t even released yet.

The Brand New Day trailer tells the emotional story of Peter Parker, who is living in complete anonymity four years after No Way Home’s dramatic conclusion. Unable to be recognized by anyone — not MJ, not Ned, not anyone — Peter still chooses to serve as New York’s protector. The trailer’s raw emotional power lies in this paradox of a hero who gives everything while receiving nothing, not even recognition.

WaveMetrix data showed the trailer reaching 1.1 billion total views by Tuesday. The first-day count of 718.6 million obliterated all previous records, including Deadpool & Wolverine’s Super Bowl debut of 365 million, No Way Home’s 355.5 million, and GTA VI’s previous all-entertainment high of 475 million. Brand New Day exists in a league entirely of its own.

The significance of these numbers extends well beyond statistics. They reflect the extraordinary emotional investment that audiences have placed in this version of Spider-Man and this particular story. Social media was transformed into an ongoing celebration, debate, and exploration of the trailer’s themes, with fan creations and theories circulating at viral speed for days after release.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the film features Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. The film opens July 31 in theatres worldwide and screens in India in six languages. It is shaping up to be one of the most significant releases in the history of the superhero genre.
