Range Rover has stepped into the electric vehicle market by introducing its inaugural fully electric SUV in the UK, with a starting price set at £154,070. Customers can now place their orders, with the first deliveries anticipated in 2027. This significant move aligns with Jaguar Land Rover’s broader strategy to pivot towards electric mobility.
The new electric SUV will be assembled at Jaguar Land Rover’s Solihull facility in the UK, underscoring the importance of this site in the company’s transition to electric vehicle production. The Range Rover Electric is equipped with dual electric motors, capable of delivering up to 550PS and 850Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 60mph in just 4.3 seconds. The vehicle boasts a driving range of up to 372 miles, as per the WLTP testing cycle.
An essential feature of the Range Rover Electric is its 118.5kWh battery, which supports 800-volt charging technology. This enables the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes under optimal conditions. Despite these technological advancements, the vehicle maintains the classic luxury and off-road prowess that the Range Rover brand is renowned for, including the ability to wade through water up to a depth of 900mm.
The design of the Range Rover Electric integrates an electric powertrain and improved aerodynamic elements while preserving the luxury aesthetic familiar to the brand’s enthusiasts. Over several years, extensive development and testing have been carried out to bring this vehicle to market. Production will be further bolstered by Jaguar Land Rover’s Wolverhampton facility, which is tasked with producing battery packs and electric drive units for the new model.
